About Carlee

Carlee Baker, MA, RCC | Registered Clinical Counsellor

I believe people can move through remarkably difficult experiences, particularly when they have space to feel heard, understood, and supported. My work is warm, collaborative, and grounded in a genuine therapeutic relationship.

Experience that shapes my work

For nearly a decade, I’ve worked with the Sea to Sky Hospice Society, supporting people through serious illness, caregiving, anticipatory grief, end-of-life experiences, and bereavement. This work, together with specialized training through Living Through Loss, has shaped my understanding that grief is not something we simply get over. Often, we find a new normal while learning to carry loss as part of our lives.

A significant personal loss during adolescence, and the support I received through hospice services, first drew me toward grief work. I continue to find meaning in being alongside people whose experiences may feel too painful or complicated to share elsewhere.

My background also includes victim services and crisis intervention work in RCMP and West Vancouver Police settings. Supporting people after traumatic events and experiences of crime strengthened my understanding of crisis responses, safety, and the value of a calm, steady presence. It also gave me familiarity with criminal justice and court processes that may be relevant to people affected by crime.

How I work

Counselling may begin with practical ways to manage what feels overwhelming. It can also involve exploring emotions, relationships, patterns, and the experiences underneath them. We’ll work collaboratively, with room for both careful listening and gentle challenges when they’re useful.

I have a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology and am a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC). My additional training includes EMDR, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and grief education through Living Through Loss. I draw from these approaches according to your needs rather than using one method for everyone.

Connected to the Sea to Sky community

I continue my work as a clinical counsellor with the Sea to Sky Hospice Society alongside my private practice. As a family member of an RCMP officer, I also have a personal understanding of aspects of first responder family life.

In private practice, I offer individual counselling for adults and youth aged 12 and older, including support for grief, trauma, anxiety, depression, and life transitions.
