First Responders & Their Families

Support for those who serve, and the people close to them.

First responder work can shape life both on and off shift. Critical incidents, cumulative stress, exposure to trauma, and the demands of the role can affect emotional well-being and relationships.

I offer individual counselling for first responders and their family members, with room to talk openly and explore practical ways to manage what you’re carrying.

For first responders

Whether you work in policing, fire services, paramedicine, emergency dispatch, search and rescue, or another response role, you may be navigating experiences that are difficult to set aside after work.

Counselling can support you with trauma and PTSD-related concerns, critical incident stress, anxiety, grief, burnout, relationships, and the cumulative pressures of the job. You do not need a PTSD diagnosis, or a crisis, to reach out.

For partners and family members

The demands of first responder work often extend beyond the job and into family life. Shift work, concerns about safety, emotional distance, and changing family responsibilities can affect relationships and personal well-being.

As a family member of a first responder myself, I have a personal understanding of some of these challenges. Counselling offers a space to talk openly about your own experiences, navigate the challenges you may be facing, and focus on your well-being without feeling that your needs need to come second.

Experience that informs my approach

My background includes victim services and crisis intervention work in RCMP and West Vancouver Police settings. That experience informs my understanding of crisis, trauma responses, and the importance of a steady, supportive presence.

My approach is collaborative and may draw on practical coping strategies, CBT, EMDR, and other therapies according to your needs.
